***½ The Dark Knight is back, and he's still F'n nuts. .... Guess there's no way around that. The superhero blues would weigh mightily on any of us. Anyway, darker, sharper, and better written than any of other Batman flicks, the movie had two problems. One, LSD as a weapon? As Batman scrambles to stop this sinister plot I kept expecting him to stop by the local park and roundup some hippies to talk everyone down. Alas no. Just say no kids! Two, what is with action scenes being blurred, badly lighted, blips these days? Do they figure things are happening so fast that it's unrealizistic to show the viewer what actually is happening? I don't know, but it gives me a headache anyway. Points off for that, but otherwise a good action pic. Fans, or those geekier elements out there just hanging up their Jedi costumes, will be thrilled-- especially with the origins of one of Batman's better adversaries: Scarecrow. |
