Bobby

****

Here's history! Destinies collide at the Ambassador Hotel where RFK was murdered in 1968. The story deals very little with Bobby's destiny with an assassin and focuses mostly on the plotlines of major and minor characters. They are woven very well amid the ticking time bomb the film's ultimate climax. It's also where the film kind of fails. There wasn't enough tease of this doom, so the film lacks tension and seemingly drifts in parts. It relies so heavily on the characters driving the story that it could be hit or miss with some movie go'ers. Luckily, at least for me, the acting was superb, and the minor characters even shined. Of course gathering one of the best casts ever really helps. The film also is engrossing from the view point of history, and the picture of the time it depicts. The makers did a very good job in sinking the viewer deep into the film's era. ... A slower fare, but still highly recommend. (Would make an excellent-- if not counter agent-- double feature with Borat.)
