Friends with Money

***

As revenge for making her see MI3, I was forced to venture into the Click Flick realm for a few hours the other night. (Really, guys if you can swing it always suffer this penance via the DvD or Video. At least you can make a sandwich at some point.) Anyway, I was surprised by how little I hated it. Four thirty to forty-something chicks are friends ... somehow ... One of them smokes pot and is a little manic, one married a gay guy (but they're happy), one lives with an emotionally distant man (whatever), and one married some rich guy and buys their kids three hundred dollar shoes. And then they all have little emotional crises, and things happen, yada, yada, yada. Are we still friends, god he's a jerk, am I having a breakdown-- let's all hug. Sound kind of familiar? Anyone? How about the plot of every other chick flick on the rolls. And what do we learn by the end: Men are bad unless they are gay, or rich. Yawn. Great lesson for the kiddies folks! ... However, the strength of the movie is in it's characters, and the caliber of the actresses playing them. The girl from "Friends" kind of steals the whole movie-- and guys this isn't the movie where she's naked, so don't get talked into seeing it thinking that. No, no, no. She does however steal someone's dildo and use it, but it's off camera. Overall, it's watchable if you're guy, and if you're a woman there might some kind of deeper inspirational, empowerment thing going on. I think.
