Superman Returns *
Well, on the bright side, at least Chris Reeves can't roll over in his grave. With the exception of Spacey, it's a dud for a new generation. Instead of trying to build on it's own time and generation, it attempted to pick up where the other movies left off, except they hired twenty-something actors to play the leads when clearly their characters would be older. Referencing the old storylines really hurt the movie, it was like different characters trying to convince us they were the old ones, and doing it badly. So miscasting and mis-premise, sinks this Super stinker to the crap heap. Then, they wanted to tell this love story between these two people in the middle of the action. It really took away from Spacey's role. I will say they tried to give certain amount of theme-like layers to the "work"-- but come on, this is a guy in a cape and blue undies. Let's beat up the bad guys and eat popcorn. No. Let's instead whisk Lois away on some same-old lame flight under a moonlight sky. Yawn!
