It is a fictional account of a world where a party comes to power in a democratic society using fundamentalist dogma to mask their behind the scenes, double dealings to enrich themselves while assuming absolute power. The fact they use the media to control the population, and send wave after wave of fear through them to cower the people with psychological attacks and maintain their hold, deny civil rights, falsely imprison people, and destroy the middle class, should not be confused in any way to the current political situation in the world. Likewise, the act of overthrowing them by subversive and violent acts (like blowing up gov't buildings) should be considered a fictional portrayal of certain characters' reactions to their fictional circumstances.
